Editorial Policy
How we research, write, verify, and update everything published on NoorAI.
Source-First
Every claim traces back to Quran, Sahih Hadith, or named classical scholarship.
AI-Assisted, Human-Reviewed
Articles drafted with AI help are reviewed against authentic sources before publication.
Honest About Limits
We never replace a qualified scholar. For binding fatwa, consult a local mufti.
1. Our Sources
NoorAI's content is built exclusively on authentic Islamic sources, in this order of authority:
- The Holy Quran — Arabic text from Quran Uthmani; English translations primarily Sahih International and Pickthall.
- Kutub al-Sittah (Six Books of Hadith)— Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawud, Jami at-Tirmidhi, Sunan an-Nasa'i, Sunan Ibn Majah.
- Classical Tafseer— Tafseer Ibn Kathir, Tafseer al-Tabari, Tafseer al-Qurtubi, Tafhim al-Quran (Maududi), Ma'arif al-Quran (Mufti Shafi).
- Classical Fiqh from the four mainstream Sunni madhabs.
2. AI Usage Disclosure
NoorAI is transparent about how AI is used. Two distinct content types exist on this site:
- Editorial pages(Q&A library, blog articles, surah/hadith introductions, tools): AI is used for drafting and structuring, but every published page is reviewed against primary sources before going live. Author attribution and dates are shown on each article.
- Live AI assistant(the "Ask AI" chat and per-ayah tafseer button): Responses are generated in real time by a large language model with NoorAI's Islamic-knowledge system prompt. These responses are clearly marked as AI-generated and include a notice to verify important rulings with a qualified scholar.
We do not use AI to invent hadith, fabricate references, or generate political/sectarian opinions. The assistant is instructed to refuse fabrication and recommend a qualified scholar for personal matters.
3. Translation & Attribution
Quran Arabic text and English translations are sourced via the public AlQuran.cloud API (Quran Uthmani for Arabic, Sahih International for English). Audio recitations are sourced from mp3quran.net (Sheikh Mishary Rashid Alafasy). Hadith excerpts include the collection name and number where applicable.
4. Madhab Approach
Where the four mainstream Sunni madhabs differ on a ruling, we present each position fairly along with the evidences each cites. We do not promote one madhab over another. We avoid disputed sectarian or political controversies that fall outside mainstream Sunni scholarship.
5. Review & Corrections
If you find an error, an inauthentic citation, or a misrepresented scholarly position, please email us at hello@noorai.site. Verified corrections are applied promptly, and we note significant changes at the bottom of the article.
6. What We Do Not Do
- Issue binding fatwa for individual personal situations
- Take positions on political or sectarian controversies
- Replace qualified local scholarship
- Fabricate references when uncertain — we say "we do not know" instead
